I would like to send 100 young people who may otherwise not have access to extra curricular activities to a free screening of Black Panther at PeckhamPlex and give each of them a drink and a snack.
The money will pay hiring of the cinema and a snack for each young person.
Basically I am, along with many people, very excited about the release of Black Panther. I think the film is pushing boundaries and breaking glass ceilings. Black presence on film and tv is underrepresented and often pushing negative stories.
Many kids grow up loving superheroes aspiring to be Spiderman, batman, ironman etc. This film is new in that it is not only positive representation of black characters but Black superheroes! and strong female characters!
I think the film will be an inspiration to so many and I'm especially excited about showing young black people that they can be the hero too
A superhero movie with black actors, set in Africa and it has a great female presence is something I couldn't even imagine dreaming about seeing when I was younger. I want everyone but especially young black people to be able to watch it and be inspired!
I am a South East Londoner, currently living in Camberwell. So I want to focus on young people in my local area. PeckhamPlex is my local cinema and I have secured a special screening of Black Panther for this purpose
I would love your support however little it may seem. It will help.
Any extra money raised will go back into charity projects for young people in the local area.
Thank you
Jade
