Michael Blair: Cooler Runnings 2018

Allow me to introduce myself...my name is Michael Blair and I am writing this letter to obtain financial support while competing as member of the Jamaican Bobsled Team and participate in the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang, Korea.

I am also a former National Football League (NFL) player (Green Bay Packers) and played professionally in the league for four years, spending five additional years in other professional leagues (NFLEurope, ArenaFootball, XFL). 

I  have the skills, elite professional experience and knowledge necessary Compete at a high level for the Jamaican National Bobsled Team. Most importantly, I am very passionate about representing my lineage, Jamaica, in the 2018 Olympics.

 My late father, Patrick Blair, and uncles Corcel, Miguel and Maurice Blair were former althletes and proud Jamaican citizens who served on the Jamaica National Futbol (Soccer) team in the 60’s. My late uncle on my mother's side, was a Jesuit Resident at Campion College for a number of years. My roots are grounded in Jamaica and that inspires me to return and give back to a country that has given so much to me and my family.

 I am first generation, U.S. American born citizen, raised in a dual-cultural family ready to represent the country of my origin.   The opportunity to become a member and compete for the Jamaican National Bobsled Team will only serve to reinforce what I teach my students “Teamwork, Dedication and the Power of Practice".
