First Responders work unbelievable hours throughout the year, make daily sacrifices along with their families, and often risk their lives - all to keep our communities safe. With the ever-growing adversity against police officers in the U.S. it is increasingly getting more difficult and dangerous for all first responders to do their jobs. It takes a toll on them physically and mentally. In fact, last year 243 First Responders committed suicide and the number of First Responders killed in the line of duty is rapidly increasing. As a community, we need to do something about this right now to get those statistics down.
This Christmas day, I delivered 100 care packages to the local police department to show appreciation to the officers who worked the holiday instead of being with their families. Most of them were on the field responding to fatal car crashes, domestic abuse calls, and other emergencies. Of those who were at the station to receive the packages the officers they were like giddy children excited to get their presents. As they pulled out the snacks, bungee cords, and other gifts out of their bags the officers were especially touched by the handmade Christmas cards by a local preschool & aftercare center. The officers agreed that they were happily overwhelmed with the appreciation people still have for police... they thought they were forgotten.
You won't forget them. WE won't forget them. That experience made me realize that morale among First Responders need to be encouraged now more than ever before. So I created Bless A Badge Ministries. With care packages, "hope seminars", daily prayer program, community events, and ongoing reporting Bless A Badge Ministries plans to foster love, rekindle and sustain hope, and increase public awareness of the good, bad, and misunderstandings that come with being a Police Officer, Firefighter, EMS, Dispatcher, or deployed Military. Thank you in advance for your support!
