World meet June – the cutest goat you’ve never met. Born alongside her twin brother Johnny, June became part of the Vogrin Valley family on June 12th, 2015 and now stands tall at a wobbly 18 inches. However, life for June hasn’t been easy. Born blind and with a severe case of pneumonia, June was also unable to stand due to an unresponsive front leg. After being immediately ostracized from the herd, and therefore unable to nurse, June was left with less than a 50% chance of survival. However, in the presence of every obstacle lies an opportunity.
Enter, Katie Mae Vogrin and her off-the-market husband, Jeff “Mancub” Vogrin, owners of the Vogrin Valley Farm in Nashville, Tennessee. Both Katie and her husband look after the family of goats June was born into and can relate to the inexplicable outcomes life deals all of us. The day proceeding June’s birth, Katie and her husband discovered they too were expecting a little one to call their own. Tragically, at eight weeks they had lost their child in a miscarriage. Despite the devastation, an opportunity presented itself and June was in need. Katie and her husband refused to let June slip away and have dedicated the past two months rehabilitating, bottle feeding, and caring for her. During most days, Katie would take June on clandestine trips to her office in a makeshift pen and look after her with the help of her fellow colleagues. Remarkably, June has defied the odds of her disadvantages and is proudly walking, and even kicking on her own! Although June’s circumstances seemed hopeless, it was the perfect outcome for the Vogrin family to push through the grieving process of their own loss and be a family to June. But now it’s someone else’s turn to seize an opportunity.
Despite June’s progress and newfound mobility, June is still rejected from the herd and becoming too much for the Vogrin family take on without some help. Katie Mae is back on her feet and Baby June is back on her feet and it’s time to get June eye surgery for her cataracts and get her out of the future baby room that she currently stays in and into a safe place to live in outside. Because June is susceptible to infection and unable to protect herself from predators, June needs a specially designed home where she can continue to grow and be surrounded by the unconditional love and support that has been shown to her.
June’s sweetness, playful disposition, and most notably, her spunk, resonates with everyone. The Vogrin family would love nothing more than to continue her life under their care and give June a place to feel safe. On behalf of the Vogrin family, and all those who have been touched by June’s charismatic nature, we thank you for taking the time to visit our campaign page and helping anyway you can.
