Blue Island Fire Museum
Tax deductible
Last year, the City of Blue Island acquired a piece of property directly across the street from Fire Station 1, demolishing the dilapidated home that stood there. The City of Blue Island, the Blue Island Historical Society, and the Blue Island Fire Fighters Club have joined forces to build the Blue Island Fire Museum & Education Center on that site.
The museum will showcase artifacts and memorabilia related to the history of the Blue Island Fire Department, including Old Bess - a 1925 Seagrave motor pumper, the first new, motor driven piece of fire equipment purchased by our City.
We also plan to offer informative & educational fire safety events for both adults and children. Situated along the coming Cal Sag Trail, the building will be an ideal place to visit to learn about the history of the Blue Island Fire Department, firefighting, and fire safety.
We have much work to do to reach our goal, but through a multitude of fundraising efforts and events that extend beyond GoFundMe, we're confident we'll be able to raise the money needed to construct a building that will serve Blue Islanders for generations to come.
