I’m publishing a book and as it turns out… it isn’t as cheap as I thought. The total you see will cover the publishing cost ($1,699) as well as the artist payment. I am working with Shiloh on illustrations and a book cover.
So it is; a textbook of emotional, sexual and spiritual anatomy. A surreal commentary. A labyrinth of textures, shapes, colors, lack there of and expressionism.

“Hija de la Gran P_ _A.”
Erika dons the phrase as a badge of honor. Knowing the ‘puta’ in her, much like the one from the women in her family, is undeniably grand. She explores this label and others through poems, songs, written thoughts, skits and short stories. She says, in true Erika fashion, in between jokes, that “Hija de la Gran P_ _ A” is a book of rambles. It’s her mental junk drawer. It’s everything she’s ever felt, written down on a piece of paper and forgotten for months, it’s crying on keyboards mid-afternoon, it’s laughing in her notes in public, it’s pictures in her head, it’s what she’s shared loudly on a stage and quietly in room corners, it’s the support of family and friends, and it’s for her.
Erika A De Jesus-Rodriguez is an upstate NY based Dominican immigrant performer, writer, model/photographer and actress (mostly alone in her room, but at times on an actual stage). Her work has been published in the 7th edition of IMAGEOUTWRITE and performed in various venues around the city. In her first self-published book, “Hija de la Gran P_ _A,” Erika writes about everything from growing up around troubled adults, to childhood experiences in a bilingual tongue she refuses to translate, to her way of making sense of life with the need to joke. Erika is the co-creator of the bilingual group ‘Lingual’ and considers Eduardo Galeano, Frida Kahlo and Carla Estrada her personal heroes (and jokingly, her grandparents).
