Bottlecap Press: Art, Making It

Hi! We're Bottlecap Press. We're a small press publishing company located in the St. Louis area. You may know us from books like Kimmy Walters' "Uptalk" or Manuel Arturo Abreu's "List of Consonants," or any one of the great books available in our catalog here. We publish books under the philosophy that writers should be treated as equal partners in the publishing game, and that creative content should remain the property of its creator. We are dedicated artists ourselves, and have worked with a whole host of amazing, talented people. Publishing is our passion, and we love what we do. Since its inception in 2014, Bottlecap Press has been fairly prolific, publishing 25 books in a little over a year, but at this juncture, we are only turning enough profit to keep up with the status quo. In 2016, we want to double or even triple our output, and this is going to require investments in new equipment and large bulk orders of printing supplies. On top of that, we recently moved into a new location, an old house in Alton, IL, which requires a lot of repairs, especially to the upstairs office, which has suffered a large amount of water damage.

Along with office repairs and increased output, Bottlecap Press wants to dip its toes into a range of new media, all while keeping up with its literary roots. This means bringing the Bottlecap philosophy to things like music, ebooks, animation/videos, software, maybe even board games. Each of these new ventures is going to require some amount of startup cost, and as we have already invested our entire savings into Bottlecap Press, finding a budget for new types of projects is hard. We are proud to say that our business is self-sufficient, but in order to keep it moving forward from where it is today, we are going to need a jump start. This is where you come in!

We started this campaign to help ease our growing pains, and to ensure that Bottlecap Press can continue to get the love and attention it needs to continue growing at this rate.
