"boy: a new musical" follows a young boy named Peter as he struggles with the loss of his father. It's the late 1980's, and Peter's Mother moves him and his older sister to a new town in order to "start over." Peter starts high school at Faith Christian Academy and befriends the pastor of the school and adjoining church, James. Their budding relationship fills a void for Peter for a few years, until it doesn't. With a book by Jonathan Sangster (actor from The Book of Mormon), "boy" explores the loss of innocence and how we all deal with grief.

We understand that the next steps of our industry begin with us, to push our community, both on and off stage, forward, through the love of storytelling. We are telling this particular story with the goal to create dialogue and safe spaces, and to heal the hearts of those who may have had similar experiences, in hopes that they may feel seen, heard, and less isolated in their own journey toward healing.

Hi friends! After almost 7 years, a Seattle workshop, a world wide pandemic, and many-a-zoom table read later, we are taking the next steps in bringing boy: a new musical to life. With writing partner Matthew Hornbeck (music & lyrics), new "boy" creative team members Daniel Klintworth (Orchestrations/Arrangements/Music Supervisor), and Carrie Jablansky (Creative Producer), we have been hard at work this last year to create the most compelling story "boy" can be. We've had 3 virtual Zoom readings with professional actors from Hamilton, Mean Girls, The Book of Mormon, Netflix's The Prom, and more in order to hone in on these complex characters and important themes of "boy." Well, now we're ready for the next steps!

We all know that producing art, in any form, isn't cheap, by any means! Which is why we are here and where you come in. Plan and simple? We need your help and YOU have the opportunity to help fund the future development of a brand new musical and a beautiful story that we hope will one day bring peace to so many. We need funding for future readings, workshops, and recordings. We envision a bright future for this show, and we are ready to tell this story to as many audiences as possible, with your help! Every developmental step we have taken up to this point has been by asking friends and colleagues for their time, efforts, and talents. Every single person who has been working on this project has been volunteering their time. Now is the time in the development process where we in fact need some funds and financial support to move forward.

It will take a village to bring this adventure to life. With your help, generosity, and the heart poured into this endeavor, we can bring this story to fruition. Any donation amount will help, and we will be forever grateful for. We totally understand that life is just starting to return to some sense of "normalcy" after our world was rocked by this pandemic. Our beloved industry was one of the hardest hit. We're still grieving, and processing the trauma. So if you can't help financially, there are so many other ways you can be involved in our efforts.
