Hello, I am the District Executive for the Boy Scouts in the Robert L. Scott District. The Robert L. Scott District serves more than 1,000 young men and women over 8 counties in Central Georgia Council ages 7 to 20. We have co-ed Explorer Posts that focus on career development and hands-on experience, traditional packs, troops, and co-ed Venture Crews that focus on high-adventure based activities.
We are working very hard to increase how many children, young men, and women we can serve of all backgrounds by fundraising yearly to provide $10,000 in various scholarships with your support. If we achieve our goal, we never have to turn any young person away from scouting which helps set young people up for a higher rate of success. Other than scholarships, we provide more than $100,000 in programming for our various scouts each year, improvements to the council's Camp Benjamin Hawkins, yearly unit recruitment drives, training workshops for youth and adults, and a lifetime of experiences.
Though scouts membership fees are $24, that is a fee that is sent directly to national in Texas. Our district is burdened with a cost of more than $400 per scout each year. This leaves the Robert L. Scott District to raise $50,500 minimum by the end of June. If we are unable to fulfill this amount then we will not be able to even serve all of the scouts that we currently reside over. This fundraiser is vital to not only the scouts but to the community as well. Scouts in our district alone provided more than 6,000 hours of community service, worked together to complete more than 30 Eagle Projects to benefit the community, and earned more than 3,000 merit badges. This fundraiser is necessary to sustain and better the level of program that we provide to more than 1,000 youths in Telfair, Dodge, Houston, Bleckley, Wheeler, Montgomery, and Laurens County. From providing aid in our middle schools to help students improve their math and science performance scores, to traditional summer camp, scouting makes a difference in the lives of everyone it touches. Without this funding, these young people wouldn't have the experiences or memories all areas of scouting provides that change lives. Please help us in providing all we can for these scouts and hopefully, many more as we try to expand on those we serve.
All help is extremely appreciated by all of our scouts that it benefits. Thank you so much.
