Braden's Fight Against Leukemia

Donation protected
Braden Washington is 18 years old and a Senior at Joliet West High School.  On the football field, they call him BEAST, but to anyone who knows "Bubba", he is a little teddy bear in a big body! Countless people have stories about how much they love his caring nature and how he has helped them in many ways. Ask any teacher about Braden, and the response would be that he is a sweet person and even on the football field after a defensive tackle, he turns around to help the other team's player up. Braden loves to be outdoors doing yard work, swimming, four wheeling, and helping his dad with the vehicles. He is looking forward to going to college and possibly pursuing  a career as a police officer or firefighter with hopes of helping others.

On April 13th, 2018, Braden was diagnosed with T-Cell ALL leukemia which is cancer of the blood.  Even after the initial shock, Braden has had a positive outlook.  He knows what needs to be done to battle this disease and is willing to give it his ALL to do it!  In typical "Bub" fashion, he has every doctor and nurse loving him because of his proper manners, sweet disposition, and caring heart.  Even while he is going through this devastating experience, he has agreed to donate his blood for research to hopefully help others.  This will be a long road, three and a half years of chemotherapy, spinal taps, bone marrow testing, medication to combat side effects, blood transfusions, weekly trips to the hospital, etc. There is a possibility of terrible side effects which he is already experiencing some, but still continues to have a smile on his face.

His family is not one to ask, but to give!  However, they need our help! Living in Joliet, they have many travel expenses to and from DuPage Hospital in Winfield. There are many hospital and hotel stays, as well as meals.  The house will need some medical updates and many supplies purchased in order to bring him home.  There will be in home health care providers to train the family on all the procedures for this protocol of chemotherapy.

Braden's hope right now is to go to his high school graduation.  He also does not want to put his life on hold and will start online classes at Joliet Junior College.  Any money raised that is not used for medical expenses will go toward starting his college career.

Please keep Braden and his family (Gary - dad, Kathy - mom, Breanna - sister, and Brittany - sister) in your thoughts and prayers!  They will gladly accept and appreciate them!
