Brad Masters: Rising from the ashes
Donation protected
Brad Masters is one of Indonesia's finest resident surf photographers. Born in Perth, Western Australia he has spent more than 15 years travelling the Indonesian archipelogo capturing amazing images of country's incredible waves.
At 11pm on New Years Eve Brad was at home with his seven year old son Kai drawing pictures together and watching the fireworks being set off in the village surrounding their house. Brad looked up from the couch they were sitting on and saw flames spreading rapidly through the adjacent room.
With Kai being the most important thing in his life, they ran from the flames to safety. Within minutes the entire house was ablaze and by the time firefighters had arrived and doused the flames, there was basically nothing left. Brad walked away from the inferno with his son and the clothes on him.
His beautiful dogs Bungkus and Molly suffered serious burns and Molly had to eventually be put to sleep because of her injuries. He has lost his home, a career's worth of images, every camera and lense, computer, phone, wallet, passport, clothes, and shoes (even though he always hated wearing them).
Brad has given so much to so many people and now he needs help to get back on his bare feet and rebuild his life.
While it is hoped that insurance will pay for the rebuilding of his home, he needs financial help as soon as possible to buy new clothes; pay for police reports and a new passport; rent a small house for up to 1 year until his home can be rebuilt; and buy a new computer and DSLR camera so he can continue working.
Any assistance will be massively appreciated by Brad and his family.
