Brandon Q. Jones Scholarship

Donation protected
On the night of June 10th, 2018, Brandon Quincy Jones went to work like he always did. He put on his security uniform with pride and was ready for his shift. That night was different for Brandon because he was working security for an ex NFL player. Brandon was excited and ready for the task. As the party concluded, the guests were leaving and an argument ensued between an intoxicated guest and another security officer.

When the argument ended, the intoxicated guest left the property with no known issues. Shortly after leaving, the same guest returned and shot the first person he saw, which happened to be Brandon. The gunshot wound was fatal. Brandon died before making it to the hospital; he was only 22 years old.

Losing Brandon has been hard for us as a family. We saw his immense desire with regard to achieving his goals and gaining what he wanted out of life. Brandon loved working as a security officer and even considered making it a career, but he ultimately decided that he'd rather become a police officer. He applied to several Law Enforcement agencies and was excited to start his new career path. He also decided that once he was hired he would enroll back into school.

There are plenty of words which could be used to describe Brandon. He was a very passionate, loving, caring, hardworking and motivated young man. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a friend and a US Navy Veteran. These scholarships are being established to honor Brandon and to help graduating seniors take a step towards reaching their goals and dreams. In the inaugural year of 2019 we plan to offer 4 scholarships. These scholarships are intended to assist with books, food and other student essentials.

I am currently funding the scholarships with my Post 9/11 GI Bill as well as a portion of each of my paychecks. Three of the scholarships will be in the amount of $500 and the fourth will be $1,000. My goal in the following years will be to award 6 scholarships annually on the anniversary of Brandon’s death. Any amount donated will be greatly appreciated and will help me help more students.

I want to help kids do something Brandon was not able to do: go to college and earn their degree.
