Brave Shave for Monash Childrens
Donation protected
In January this year, my business partner & close mate, Kev, and his wife, Haylie, discovered the devastating news that their 2 year old son, Parker, had cancer.
Diagnosed with T Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Parker was admitted straight into the Monash Children's Hospital for what was the beginning of a two year treatment plan consisting of chemotherapy, aggressive medications, scans, needles, drips, tubes, continuous days in hospital & all sorts of things no child should have to endure.
When discussing possible ways to help, I originally thought to raise money for Kev, Haylie, Parker & big brother Huddy to go on a holiday at the end of treatment. But Kev was very clear that any money raised should be for the Monash Children's Hospital, who continue to provide exceptional care and support to Parker, Kev, Haylie & Huddy.
MCH have the best paediatric oncology doctors in Australia who provide specialised and specific care for each child that has been diagnosed with their particular type of cancer. MCH focuses on providing overall care for the families that are affected by the diagnosis and the long journey that follows with treatment. All of this is done at no financial cost to those families. The hundreds of thousands of dollars needed every year come from some government help and the rest from local community fundraising.
So, as a very small way of showing support for the Kensley family and saying a big thank you to MCH, on Thursday 28th June I'll be shaving my head to raise money.
No matter how big or small, any donation would be amazing and will go straight to the MCH to help them continue to provide this invaluable care and support for kids and families in a similar position to the Kensley's.
So please do what you can to help a great cause and also enjoy a laugh at my expense once you see what I look like without this mop of hair!
