Breakthrough PTSD treatment for former UK soldier
Donation protected
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a fairly new, nontraditional type of psychotherapy. It's growing in popularity, particularly for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
At first glance, EMDR appears to approach psychological issues in an unusual way. It does not rely on talk therapy or medications. Instead, EMDR uses a patient's own rapid, rhythmic eyemovements. These eye movements dampen the power of emotionally charged memories of past traumatic events.
Veterans agencies "strongly recommended" EDMR for the treatment of PTSD in both military and non-military populations.
The money raised here will go towards the treatment costs and recovery costs for a former UK soldier who has exhausted other military charities. The lack of financial help is due to EMDR being available in some cases on the NHS. However, there is an extremely long waiting list and only one practitioner in the patients home county, who works part time.
We ask you to donate as you can please, to aid in the recovery for this ex soldier and father, fighting severe PTSD daily.
