Bridging the Divide: Climate Action

NEED FOR THE PROJECT
We approach the next general election in a moment when climate risks have never been more acute, the political divides never wider, and the need to bring Americans together around issues of importance to all of us never greater. The massive divide in beliefs about climate change in America is a critical barrier to effective political action on this issue.
To address this divide, we have created a social media video designed as a call to action directed to the 30% of Americans who fall into 3 of the 6 Americas: disengaged, doubtful, and dismissive. These Americans are least likely to support taking climate action. Applying the latest research in moral psychology, we produced this video featuring trusted leaders who represent these Americans sharing messages that we hope will effectively engage people across the belief spectrum.

The aim of the project is to encourage all Americans to reconsider their views on the need for climate action before they cast their vote in November. We believe this effort to bring a novel mix of fresh, real voices into the climate conversation directly before the election will help to generate support for political leaders who are ready to take action on climate change.
