Brill Has Bills

Hello, I’m Ian Brill. I’m an editor and writer in the world of comics and graphic novels. Before that, I was a journalist in the same field. Comics have basically been my whole career since college.

Last year I was laid off from my job as an editor, which was my only real career job in my entire adult life. Since then, I’ve had a few short-term gigs here and there, but I’ve never been hired for a full-time position. I’ve been looking for work both inside and outside the comics industry. Staff jobs in comics can be hard to come by, the fact being there are only so many slots to fill. Outside of the industry, it can be hard to people to understand how the skills you developed in this niche marketplace can be applied to their job.

I need some help covering rent and bills in the coming months. I live with depression, and the treatment for that alone can be expensive. I am asking for what I hope is only a modest sum to help me cover some living expenses and not get thrown out of my apartment. I need this by the end of the month.
