KidBright USA: End Hunger in the Classroom!
Donation protected
Hunger in Durham schools is real! Eight or more students in the average classroom live in food insecure homes. And the prevalence of hunger in Durham public schools is increasing. In 2008, 56% of kids were on free or reduced lunches and in 2017 that rate increased to 70%!
Kids can't learn when they are hungry. KidBright is doing something about it. We're working to end hunger in the classroom. We currently bring healthy snacks to 600 children in their classrooms each and every school day and we'd like to expand to serve 2,000 kids this spring! You can help us reach our goal to raise $35,000 so we can provide healthy snacks for all 2,000 kids.
Our current numbers:
• 3 Durham schools
• 30 classrooms
• 600 students served
• .17¢ per snack
At just .17¢ per snack, our program is a bargain and any amount can help!
Here's how you can make a real impact with your donation:
• $20 – Snacks for one child every school day of Spring
• $70 – Snacks for a whole classroom for one month
• $300 – Snacks for a classroom for the entire Spring
