***Thank you everyone for your support. We are no longer in need of donations. Please read the latest update below under “LATEST UPDATES”***

As per GoFundMe requires, I will start with introducing myself. My name is Sheila-Marie Smith and I live in Virginia Beach. The purpose of this campaign is to raise money to find my missing cousin, Bellamy Gamboa, and for the benefit of her 4 children through this tragic time. Though we do not share the same name, we share the same blood. Our big cousin Dennis Linner entrusted me to take on this big responsibility. With the permission of the Gamboa family, “Bring Bellamy Home” was created under my name. More information on our plans for the money can be read at the bottom of this story. But first, we’d like to share with you what brought us to this situation that we are now pushing for national attention to spread awareness and find answers.

Bellamy Gamboa is a mother of 4 here in Virginia Beach. She was last seen on the night of July 1, 2018 at her Diamond Springs apartment off of Shore Dr. She allegedly left the apartment she and her exbf shared after an argument between the two. He claimed he does not know when she left or where she went. She did not show up for work the next day nor was anyone able to reach her. Since this was so unlike her, her family filed a Missing Persons report on July 2, 2018. Her car was found on July 3, 2018 abandoned next to a dumpster in the Lake Edward area of VB, which is just 4 miles down the road from her apartment. A Critically Missing Adult Alert (Ashanti Alert) was issued by Virginia State Police on July 5, 2018.

4 weeks after Bellamy was last seen, an arrest was made. Her exbf and father of her twins was arrested on misdemeanor charges and shortly after, was charged with 2nd degree murder. This man confessed to police how he took Bellamy’s life away not only from us, but away from her 4 beautiful kids. What hurts more is that we have to understand and accept that search teams have done everything they can, but the body of Bellamy cannot be recovered. This doesn’t mean we leave Bellamy behind. We know that she will forever be with us in spirit and our hearts.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 to help cover the expenses of the costs of search efforts, support for the 4 children, and memorial-related costs.

Your monetary donations will be deposited into a bank account opened specifically for funds raised for the benefit of the Gamboa family. The account was opened as a joint account in which Charisse Gamboa (Bellamy's sister) has access.
