Brittany Anne Dangerfield -ICU Endometritis Sepsis

Donation protected
Brittany Anne Dangerfield - age 23. Beautiful and compassionate wife to Scott. Loyal sister and friend. World's best daughter. Gifted artist. Sweet and nurturing mother of 2 young babies - a 2 year old boy, Dage, and 3 week old new baby girl, Gracie.

In 2018 Brittany and Scott lost insurance coverage through an accidental paperwork/billing error just a few months before becoming pregnant with their second child, Gracie. They were overjoyed to welcome their second baby, little Gracie, earth-side safe and sound. All seemed to be going well and even Brittany's recovery was progressing better than expected. She was even able to jump back into produce commissioned artwork as her way of aiding in providing for her adorable little family. (See @brittanyanneart)

However, Sunday, March 10, 2019, around 1am, (just 3 weeks and a few days after Gracie's successful natural delivery), Brittany began experience severe abdominal pain and, by 3am, was rushed to the emergency room with pain so intense she "felt like she was going to die."

The first line of treatment was pain management - morphine. Brittany experienced a severe reaction and had to have another medication administered to help bring down the pain and calm her body sufficiently to run a CT scan and ultrasound.

The CT scan and ultrasound results came back clean and clear: no kidney stones, no ovarian cysts, no ruptured gallbladder or appendix  - absolutely nothing definitive.

By 11:30am Sunday, Brittany was admitted to general care.

By 5am Monday morning she was transferred to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for sepsis; her blood pressure dropped dangerously low, she developed a high fever, and her heart rate sky-rocketed to 134bpm.

Shortly after being transferred to the ICU a pelvic exam was performed. The exam revealed a puss-like substance that was collected and sent for culture.

Brittany was diagnosed with endometritis sepsis and broad spectrum antibiotics have been administered until the culture results come back and a more targeted treatment can be administered.

Brittany's vitals (heart rate, blood pressure, and fever) continue to fluctuate in dangerous ranges - symptoms of septic shock and threatened organ failure. Antibiotics and ancillary medication is being used to sustain her vitals at this time.

Endometritis sepsis has a devastating mortality rate of 72%, and a long-term prognosis of only a 30% survival rate after the first year. Already, Brittany's hospital debt is $25,000, and it's increasing at a rapid pace - $10,000 a day while in the ICU! Her release from ICU or even from the hospital's general care has not yet been projected.

Brittany and Scott will be seeking special grants through the hospital. They are hoping that the hospital will also write off some of the debt. And if they can pay in cash it will significantly reduce the cost.

Once Brittany has recovered, she plans to continue her artwork to pay for her hospital and ICU bills.

With no more paid leave, Scott continues to remain by Brittany's side through her fragile state.

Even with all their efforts and plans to do all in their power to "catch up" financially, the stress they feel from the financial strain is overwhelming.

As stated above, their current hospital debt is $25,000. They've set a goal for $25,000 in donations, keeping in mind that they're bills increase by approximately $10,000 every day that she remains in the ICU. (Updates on their needs will be posted regularly here and at instagram.com/brittanyannedanger and instagram.com/camillahubbard1732.)

Please donate here to help this family through this devastating crisis. Every dollar counts!
