Brittany's Brain Surgery

In 2012, after several months of debilitating migraines and extreme fatigue Brittany got news from a neurologist that no one wants to hear.. Brain Tumor. Her MRI showed a 1 cm x 1.2 cm tumor in her pineal gland. The neurologists explained surgery was too risky and her only option was to "watch and see". If the tumor caused hydrocephalus (build-up of fluid on the brain) or blindness then they would do surgery. We continued following up with her neurologist yearly, but in April 2018 her symptoms began to worsen. She woke up with a droopy eye, severe pain behind her eyes, as well as numbness and weakness in her arms. A repeat MRI showed a tumor of 1.4 cm x 1.8 cm, but her neurologist once again told her surgery was too risky and he could only help by treating her symptoms. By this time symptoms included: every day headaches, migraines, severe eye pain, drooping of the eye, arm numbness and weakness, blurry vision, double vision, speech problems, memory issues, nausea, and extreme fatigue. 
She couldn't continue to live this way and searched for answers online. That's how she found Dr. Kim, a neurosurgeon in Houston, TX that specializes in tumors in the pineal region, and sent her medical records to him. 
She flew to Houston in September for her appointment with Dr. Kim and after reviewing her MRI's and performing a physical examination he recommended surgery to remove the tumor that was compressing on vital nerves and portions of her brain.
