Brittany's Career Transition to DC
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
As many of you know, I recently accepted a full-time position as a Communications Associate with a social justice coalition. Although, I am excited about moving from my home state of Texas, my first day on the job starts on August 7th which means the transition is right around the corner. As of now, I have been preparing to move out of my old apartment and pack up my things for my new start in Washington, DC with the few weeks I have left.
As a community organizer and activist, this is something I have been passionate about and it's amazing to join such an organization that's also just as passionate about this work.
As a recent graduate and new professional, I am not in a financial situation where I can support this move solely on my own. As many of you know the cost of living in DC compared to Texas is quite different and the transition would be much easier with a support system. Apartments with roommates range from 800.00 -1500.00 a month, many requiring to have the security deposit, first month, and the last month's rent. Shipping my belongings across the country will already cost around 500.00-1000.00 dollars so please know that any contribution is appreciated & will be used for my transition and move to DC.
As always I am extremely thankful for all the love and support everyone has given me. I have received so much love from so many people, including those don’t even know personally. I know I wouldn’t have gotten this far on my own, so please know that the support you have given me never goes unappreciated. My love for social justice is something I have never been able to get away from and to do something that I love in a place that provides so many opportunities is a dream come true. Prayers and kind wishes are appreciated as well. I'll also be sending postcards to those that give to show my appreciation. I know some people would love for me to document my journey so I am working on that too! Thank you so much, as always sending love and blessings your way.
