Brooke's Journey With Scoliosis

Donation protected

Brooke is an 11 year old tomgirl/ girly girl. (Yes they really exsist) Last week Brooke (my baby sister) was diagnosed with an African Curve, meaning it measures more than 90°. This curve is rarely seen in the US. 2 years ago I started a Go Fund me page to help pay for her brace, which we got, but it didn't help. Brooke is going to be staying in the hospital for 6 weeks doing "halo traction". This is a procedure that will strech her spine, where weights will be added to her halo pulley system while doing P.T every day. After her halo traction is finished she will have her surgery. There is a 20% chance she could be paralyzed from the surgery because of the degree of the curve. However, that means there's an 80% chance everything will be fine. Not having the surgery will give her a life expectancy of only her early 20s. We are starting this fund to help with the cost of travel to and from st. Louis for the 6 weeks. Brooke has separation anxiety so we want to be with her as much as we can while we try and juggle jobs, school for our 5 year old, and maintain during this time. Thank you for reading and your time. Any donation is forever a blessing. God Bless.
