Help Replace the Gym Floor

In the year of 1937, the town of Brooksville built the Brooksville High School gym to provide the school’s students their own gym for basketball and other activities. Unfortunately, in 1960 the Brooksville High School closed due to low enrollment. Thereafter the area students were sent to George Stevens Academy for high school. The town took over the high school’s gym to provide the space to the residents of the town. The space, now the Brooksville Community Center, is run with the help of the Brooksville Community Center Committee.
The Brooksville Community Center provides a location for the town’s residents to gather for a variety of events. It hosts many performances put on by the Brooksville Elementary School and by both local and out of town groups. Both local residents and those from away use this space for events such as weddings and birthdays or for benefits where the community can gather to fundraise for folks who may have suffered an unexpected hardship. Most local events also take place at the center. You can attend events such as the annual craft fair, the Christmas tree lighting, Easter activities, the Farmer’s Market, or Hunter Safety Courses. Of course, the Center is also used as initially designed. It’s a great place to play basketball during the snowy winter months, or to take a group exercise class. The list goes on and on. The Brooksville Community Center benefits every one of our residents as well as residents in nearby communities. Because of this, we are asking for your help to be able to continue to be a gathering place for everyone.
The floor at the Brooksville Community Center needs to be replaced. It is the original floor that was installed in 1937. It has been sanded, re-varnished, and repaired several times, but it is now at the point that replacement is required. Unfortunately, this is very costly. We need your help with raising funds to help replace this floor, which is estimated at approximately $45,000. There are several ways that you can help us do this. One is by participating or attending one of the events that we are putting on. Another is by spreading the word about our events both by telling your friends and sharing it on Facebook from our Brooksville Community Center page (https://www.facebook.com/Brooksvillecommcenter/).
If we do go over our project cost any excess of funds will be used towards repairs and future maintenance of the Community Center.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our Go Fund Me Page and for taking the time to check out our events that are coming up on our Facebook page. We look forward to seeing you at one of our events in the future or even being the place you have events at in the future.
