Emergency fundraiser for Haitian Orphanage
Donation protected
On Monday, November 6th, the children had to flee the orphanage because of the rise in violent gangs in Haiti, and especially in Port au Prince. Here is the conversation had between Karen Wheeler, a valuable supporter of L'Orphilant des Perpetuel Secours, and Jonel Bourdeau, who is the caretaker:
JB: Good evening Mrs. Karen, how are you our orphanage is in big troublewe need emergency help for the children. Bandits made everyone leave our village, no one lives anymore, they broke many houses, killed and burned many people, looted many houses. WE ran away from the area under a lot of gunfire. Actually the children and I are in Jeremiah, we went out without being able to take anything with us. Even the car remains in our orphanage yard, we didn't take anything, we just escaped from bandits. We took the bus to Jeremi, I couldn't live on the street with them. I found a house for rent for $3,500 USD for one year. I talked to the owner of the house, he let us enter the house that we found for the infirmary, but he told me he gave me one month to pay for the house. Please help us.
KW: Oh my goodness. You've been on my mind a lot lately. I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I'll reach out to our church and see what we can do. I'm glad you are safe, I'm sorry about what you lost, and hope you can go back one day. How many children are with you? What about Mrs. Annie and the other staff? I'll pray and start collecting money.
JB: Thank you so much Mrs. Karen, may god bless you, we have Mrs. Anie with us and the wash woman, and we have 12 children. Thank you so much, the situation is very sad.
There are no more words to explain the tragic situation in Haiti, and how it has affected everyone. The world continues to spin into violence, and it is tragic.
Please donate what you can.
