Building a Masjid for Allah
Donation protected
“Whoever builds a masjid for Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî and Sahîh Muslim]
By the grace and mercy of Allaah, after more than 13 years of looking for a building to purchase Allaah has blessed our community, Masjid Rahmah in Newark, NJ the blessing of finally achieving that goal.
On October 18th, 2016, after nearly 2 years of back and forth with the city, our proposal was fully approved and we took ownership of a property located at 487 Washington St. in Newark.
Alhamdulilah, now that the building has been purchased, all that remains before we can move in are renovations. Currently we are still renting the building we have been occupying, which we have greatly outgrown, which costs $5,000 per month in rent alone. Each month that we continue renting, rather than occupying the property we own, $5,000 is essentially wasted.
The most pressing renovation issues for the new building before we can move in are the plumbing and electric. Those costs have been estimated at $80,000.
We ask that you aid us in completing these renovations so that we can be one step closer to moving into the new masjid we have been blessed with. If 800 people donated just $100 we can reach that goal very, very quickly, however, no amount is too small.
