My name is Kyle Watkins and I recognize the sort and long term effects of bullying. Growing up in the Brentwood area of Long Island I have first hand experience of being the bully as well as being bullied.
In 2018 I was ranked as the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federations #2 ranked Brown belt in the world and I am also a two-time Jiu-Jitsu world champion (2017 & 2018).
As I child I attended programs like the Boys & Girls club and other community organizations. Through these programs I was able to stay out of trouble and participate in a variety of enrichment activities. One of them being an introduction to Martial Arts.
Bullying is at an all time high, 66% of students report being bullied at least twice throughout the school year. After partnering with the the Bellport Boys & Girls club on other programs, I learned of there anti-bullying campaign was particularly interested in how I could help.
I have partnered with the Bellport Boys & Girls Club to offer a FREE seven-week Martial Arts Self Defense program for (30) children, ages 8-12 years old. In light of the current success of this pilot program, I am raising money to assist with another Martial Arts Self Defense program in the fall of 2019.
The cost per child for this program is $185 and the goal is to sponsor another 30 children through this program again in the fall.
