Buster’s Legacy

Our beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Molly and Buster, decided the leaves of an Oleander bush, sticking through our fence looked pretty tasty. It was only a minute before we saw them feasting. We immediately took them to the emergency Veterinary Hospital, contacted ASPCA Poison Control and they gave the hospital a treatment plan. They remained in the hospital overnight to be on heart monitors and receive IV fluids while vomiting was induced. They made it through the night and Molly was fine. Buster, unfortunately, was not eating and still quite sick. We all decided he may eat at home where he will be more comfortable. Buster took his last breath about 10 hours later.
I am now trying to get the word out about how poisonous Oleander is. It has been banned in Norco, California. It should be banned everywhere.
We are trying to raise money not only for our Veterinary bills but for everything it will take to spread the word. I am doing an on camera interview with the local CBS news because they are interested enough to help get the word out. I plan on having material printed and on display anywhere I can. This does not come cheap and we are not rich people.
