Black Woman on a Mission Scholarship Fund

Hi! My name is Camille Viviana, I'm the founder of Black Woman on a Mission, and a content creator whose viral content has garnered millions of impression and over 300K followers across social platforms.

I believe in using influence for good, so as a member of the 92%, I chose to pay it forward by creating a scholarship fund for Black Women so they have the same access to opportunity, and a chance to improve their social and economic mobility.

Through Black Woman on a Mission, we launched the Lucille’s Kid Memorial Scholarship as a part of our commitment to community engagement. Our goal is to uplift Black Women and support their journey to success, particularly in education.

The scholarship is named after my first teacher, my late grandmother, Lucille Walker. My grandmother was one of 10 children, walking 6 miles to school each day, sometimes stopping to help her mother pick cotton in the fields on the way.

In 8th grade, my grandmother wrote a story for a creative writing assignment and was accused of plagiarism. Her teacher didn't believe in her talent, and that stopped her from believing in herself. She never returned to school, and was left with only an 8th grade education.

Her story shows the power of words to derail or direct you on your mission. Far too many Black students are still facing similar challenges today, often being overlooked and undervalued.

My aim is to use my voice and my platform to speak up for Black Women, and ensure that they are seen and valued.

So far, Black Woman on a Mission has awarded two $5000 scholarships to Howard University sophomore Cana Brooks, and Texas Southern University junior, Jaila Hampton. Both of these dynamic women are making waves in their communities through their own signature iniatives.

Every like, share, and repost is positive reinforcement for these students and helps spread the word about the scholarship, both for students who are applying and those who may donate. Your support makes a real difference in the lives of these students and we can’t thank you enough!
