Sock Drive for Homeless
Donation protected
Please join Caitlyn and I in our 2015 Fundraising Initiative - We need SOCKS! People that live outside have many needs, but one of the most basic is the ongoing request for socks. Imagine the importance of warm and dry socks when the weather turns cold and wet....it's a basic human need, and one that we can so easily meet. You have three options:
1. You can donate money directly to this GoFundMe page and we will find the BEST deal on socks.
2. You can buy socks of your own and arrange to drop them off with me if we see each other on a regular basis.
3. You can pull gently used socks out of your sock drawer (matched and in good condition for adults and kids) and arrange to give them to me.
Or all of the above!
Caitlyn ( age 7) set the goal at 1000 pairs of socks!!! That's a lot, but I believe we can do it! All sock donations will go to Homeless in Seattle, an organization that gives directly to those that live outside.
Helping those in need is a family tradition for Caitlyn and I. It began in 2011 with a toy drive to benefit families in the Seattle Public Schools. The first year we took on 7 families. By the second year we had 11 families that were identified by the school Family Support Workers. In those two years, with the support of many many people, we were able to help 77 people receive both basic needs along with presents for the holidays. Last year, we raised $761 for two different charities - Wellspring and Homeless in Seattle. This year Caitlyn decided she wanted to help people living outside. When we asked what was needed most, the answer was socks. So we are here to help!
Anything you can spare would be wonderful...and we will post pictures of the results both on this site AND on our Facebook Page: Helping Seattle Families in Need
A special note:
"If you have any food in your car or extra clothes, if you see a person in need on the side of the road, give what you can to them." - Sincerly Caitlyn
THANK YOU!
