Cameras to Cuba

Donation protected

Cameras to Cuba
is a collaboration between World is Sound, a travel channel about music and El Almacén
a collective of Cuban documentary film makers and music producers.

The World is Sound team is traveling to Cuba in November to document the music and culture there and to deliver desparately needed basic supplies (solar panels, batteries, flash lights etc..) and DSLR cameras to help the film makers there in the aftermath of severe hurricanes.

We are asking everyone who loves Cuban music and culture to help us and support the campaign. As we know, Cuba has been hit by several tropical storms this season and the El Almacen facilities were flooded and damaged in the storms. We want to raise money to help them rebuild so they can continue to produce thier films and music projects which are so vitally important to preserving Cuban culture.

While in Cuba, Jef Stott and the World is Sound project will collaborate with El Almacén studios
to produce a series of documentary films and recording sessions focusing on the traditional music and dance traditions of Cuba as well as modern hip hop and reggaeton artists on the island.

Initially, when we began planning this project, it was only to produce the music documentaries, but now in the wake of the hurricanes, it has become even more important to help Cubans in a humanitarian effort.

Projects like these are even more important than ever with the current political and environmental climates!

We are moving forward with our plans and feel it is a very exciting project that will help continue to bridge the gap between Cuba and the US and benefits everyone through understanding of global arts and culture.

We are asking for donations of $10-$1000 to help bring Cameras to Cuba.
