500km for Cancer Research
Donation protected
Cancer affects millions of people annually. Whether we, a loved one, or a friend experience cancer, statistically we will all be affected in some way by it.
Even as a young man, I have lost both family and friends to this battle. It is because of this loss that I am dedicated in fulfilling this campaign in order to help those who need it most.
Unfortunately, there are many countries where cancer research is an underdeveloped field of study. Sadly, in countries such as Russia, oncology research, detection, and treatment rates are significantly lower than in countries such as Canada and the United States.
This is why, over the next 50 days, I shall run 10 km (6.28 miles) each day, reaching a total of 500km (310 miles)! However, my running is not enough. It is with your generous donations that I hope to raise $5000 for cancer research.
The funds raised by this run shall go towards:
-supporting research institutes, oncological clinics, and individual specialists doing work in the field of oncological medicine;
- supporting the creation of cancer treatment facilities;
- offering assistance to existing cancer treatment facilities which are experiencing difficulties financing their current operations; and
- providing other general assistance to the financing and development of cancer research.
Upon the completion of my run, I shall make one large donation of all your generous donations to the "Imperial Foundation for Oncology Research" in Russia.
As a member of the Orthodox community I am dedicating this run to the 1000th anniversary of St. Yaroslav the Wise's ascension to the throne of Rus' and to all those who are currently battling cancer.
