Post-Transplant Fund

On October 19th, CAMILLE FREDE (AGE 28) was dual organ listed for a HEART/LUNG TRANSPLANT. After battling with PULMONARY ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION (PH) for 24 years, a heart/ lung transplant was the only solution to SAVE HER LIFE. Camille received HER GIFT OF LIFE on March 25 (PalmSunday), 2018! Camille and HER NEW ORGANS still need YOUR HELP! To situate Camille AFTER TRANSPLANT it will cost her family TIME and MORE IMPORTANTLY MONEY. Due to INSURANCE Camille HAD to move to BOSTON to be listed by the Brigham and Women’s Hospital TRANSPLANT TEAM. It takes 14 hours to drive from Michigan to Boston, where her primary family resides. FLIGHTS will be the main form of TRANSPORTATION. Flights from Michigan to Boston average $330 PER TICKET. For the FIRST YEAR post transplant, Camille will require a CAREGIVER (either a parent, relative, or friend) to be with her FULL TIME. This will result in LOSS OF WAGES for both Camille and the caregiver for one FULL YEAR.  Immediately post transplant care will INCLUDE; dietary restrictions, limiting visitors for three months, medication managment, doctors apointments, strict sanitary precautions (Camille will have to wear a special mask anytime she goes outside of her aparment, since Camille is immunocompromised), whih means she has less ability to fight off infection.  Camille was FOUR when she was diagnosed with PH and doctors gave her 1-3 years TO LIVE. Defying doctors predictions she has lived to ADVOCATE for others as a NURSE. She graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Nursing and worked in surgery for the past four years. She has DREAMS of pursuing a Nurse Practitioner degree to FURTHER give back to her community. TODAY, Camille has been DISCHARGED from Brigham and Womans Hospital (BWH). Camille was BWH first heart/lung transpant in 22 Years.
