Documenting Carnival in Cuba (Film)
Donation protected
In 2015, Oryan Peterson-Jones and Andrew Pritchard travelled to Cuba with hope to tell a story about the folks they encountered and reactions to the recent evolution of political relations. The two ethnologists found their story, though it was far more epic than they first imagined...
This July, BPBS Arts and Media are sending a small crew to Santiago de Cuba, in the hottest and southernmost region of the island, to document Carnival. Described as one of the Carribean's "hidden gems," Carnival in Cuba is unlike any other. The focus of the documentary will be costumes, dance, history and, of course, music.
Members of BPBS Arts and Media will be present to film, photograph, record and interview. The final project will be a short documentary, CD release of field recordings and a tour of the movie.
Any funds made available via Go Fund Me will go towards equipment (HD Digital Camera, Field Recording Device, External Hard Drive, Microphone, Cables, Film, Tripods, etc.)
Thank you! We love you all and appreciate all the support we can get!
