What is the true meaning of Christmas?
We were discussing this with a few friends and we wanted to put some ideas into practice this year.
Instead of focusing on our amazon wish lists, we would like to try and shift the focus to think of those in need.
The funds of this campaign will go directly to Carpenter's Shelter, an award-winning homeless ministry in Alexandria, VA (more info below).

Since the 1980s, Carpenter's Shelter has supported the homeless in Alexandria, VA to achieve sustainable independence through shelter, guidance, education and advocacy. Our doors are open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, and we serve more than 600 men, women, and children annually. Carpenter's award-winning programs provide services ranging from meeting the basic needs of the chronically homeless to providing emergency shelter on freezing cold nights to providing temporary shelter and giving individuals the skills needed to return to a stable and productive existence to helping families remain self-reliant following graduation from the shelter. Rooted in the philosophy that homelessness is a lack of housing, our consistent goal for those we serve is stable, permanent housing. Carpenter's Shelter has earned a reputation of offering quality service, providing clients with customized care, and delivering excellent results. Those that fully utilize our support after being successfully rehoused have a 90% rate of remaining stably housed one year after leaving Carpenter's. The reputation for quality also applies to our management capabilities. Carpenter's Shelter has been recognized as a finalist for the Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management, selected as a featured charity in the Catalogue For Philanthropy and named the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce's 2015 Nonprofit of the Year.
