Help Premiere "Casino Son" comic
Donation protected
My name is Mark Campos, and I'm a comics creator based in Seattle, Washington.
I'm working on a new comic titled Casino Son, which will be a collection of autobiographic vignettes from my childhood in Reno, Nevada. The stories will center on reconciling my Mexican family heritage with American life and culture in general, and Reno's casino culture in particular (both my parents worked in the clubs). My stories are funny and sad and 100% true.
Above: The "Star Trek" end credits terrified me
Casino Son will be twenty pages long, on 28 lb. Mohawk paper, with a full color cardstock cover. The book will premiere at the 2017 Latino Comics Expo, in Long Beach, California, November 11-12, 2017.
I need your help to raise the funds necessary to both produce the books and travel to the the Latino Comix Expo.
Currently, the only way to get the book is to get one from me in person, at the Latino Comix Expo--or to contribute here, through the Casino Son Go Fund Me campaign.
Contributors can get signed copies of Casino Son as gifts for helping out. You could get custom sketches, original art pages from the book, even a hand-painted reproduction of the cover! And your donation will help make the book a reality, as well as assist in travel expenses to the books premiere
One last thing - Casino Son is family-centric, portraying several generations of my family maneuvering their way through American life. My journey to Long Beach will include a visit with family members I have not seen in years.
Thanks in advance for your consideration -- together we can bring Casino Son to the Latino Comics Expo.
