Help us Build Cassidy's Kitchen!

Your support will help build Cassidy’s Kitchen,  a 3-season, building that will double as a kitchen/meeting space to foster organic health and wellness for youth and adults.

The kitchen is to be named after a long- time camper tragically lost her young life in a hay ride accident in October of 2014.

Cassidy Charrette was a very special young person who gave back to the community in a number of ways.  A junior at Messalonskee High School in Oakland, Maine, she was first in her class academically and an exceptional three-season athlete. She volunteered at the local humane society and was days away from becoming a Big Sister through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program in Oakland, Maine. Her mother stated that Hart-to-Hart Farm Day Camp was the only camp Cassidy ever wanted to attend. Cassidy attended Hart-to-Hart Farm Day Camp for five years with the last as a Junior Counselor-in-Training. We would like to honor Cassidy’s memory with Cassidy’s Kitchen, a project supported by her family and our Day Camp community. Your support will honor Cassidy’s love for the camp as well as foster future campers’ love and understanding of organic farming and enable Hart-to-Hart Farm Day Camp to enhance its agricultural education program. Hart-to-Hart Farm Day Camp is a unique experience in this region and helps to increase community well-being through teaching about organic foods, environmental sustainability and by empowering youth to connect with agriculture and nature, developing a strong sense of place.

Our plan is to build the kitchen the beginning of October with an old fashioned barn raising inviting day camp families and community members to help Cassidy’s spirit and laughter shine on at Hart-to-Hart Farm.

Hart-to-Hart Farm Day Camp is operated under the Hart-to-Hart Farm & Education Center . We are a small, family-operated, organic dairy farm in Albion, Maine. The Day Camp provides experiential agricultural education programs. Our programs are centered around the relationship between sustainable agriculture and the natural environment. We serve both youth and adults. Our primary goal is to heighten participants’ awareness of the natural life cycles and their relationships between human influences and the natural world as it pertains to the production of their food and fiber. To do this, we utilize our farm environment and the resident farm animals.

We provide quality day camp, family and school programs for participants living in Maine or visiting the state. We envision our programs as encouraging long term relationship-building with participants by deepening their understanding of and connection to the farm, the land and the communities they live in.
