Cat Conquers Cancer

Donation protected
Dear friends of Cat,

My name is Betsy Hennessy and I'm Cat's sister-in-law. As many of you know, in December of 2014 Cat was diagnosed with colon cancer. She had surgery on the day after Christmas, followed by six months of chemo treatments. In November 2015 Cat had another surgery to get rid of the last bit of cancer that was trying to hide behind her pancreas.  After the surgery, Cat was pronounced cancer-free and that was super awesome.

Unfortunately, last month during a routine CAT scan (tee hee) Cat got some bad news. The doctors found two lymph nodes that had apparently missed the bus when the rest of the cancer was leaving.  She went to visit some very smart doctors in Boston and they have come up with a plan. Since Cat responded so well to the chemo before, she gets to do it again - another six months (she can get her chemo here in Syracuse), followed by more surgery. The doctors believe it is possible that this will be all it takes to get Cat back into remission and back to being her usual healthy self.

Although Cat's not looking forward to starting the chemo all over again, she is tackling this challenge with her usual good humor and positive attitude.  The rest of her family and I want to help her as much as we can, and one way we'd like to do that is by raising money to help with her expenses.  Although Cat's insurance covers most of the costs, the co-pays and deductibles add up quickly.  We hope that if she doesn't need to worry about paying for her treatment, she'll have more energy for the important work she'll be doing - kicking the cancer out once and for all.

I know because Cat is the amazing, awesome person she is, she has lots of amazing, awesome friends who want to help her deal with this new challenge.  If you aren't able to contribute financially, there are other ways you can help Cat over the next few months - by sending cards, visiting (please call first in case she's not feeling well), giving her rides to her appointments, or providing dinner. (Cat's Meal Train page is https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/q77421. She will be in Cooperstown until the end of July and then back in Syracuse.)

Thank you so much for all that you have done and will continue to do for Cat.  I know how much she appreciates all the help that she's received.  As Cat starts this next battle, I think the most important thing is that she knows how many of us are here to support her and how much she is loved.
