Cathy Klein is the beloved wife of Tom, a teacher, hockey coach, and a man of strong faith. He married Cathy 34 years ago. The first 17 years were filled with happy times when the couple lived their life as soulmates, best friends, making date night a weekly event, and being committed to growing together. Life in Minnesota’s Twin Cities was good. Actually, better than good.
But things changed in May of 1999 when Cathy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Aggressive treatments and procedures were performed, but Cathy’s life changed forever. She had taught water aerobics; worked with children through Early Childhood Family Education (ECFC) programs; she was an active participant in Bible Study groups and a member of Toast Masters. Certainly a talented woman who adored working with children. Throughout her journey, both before and during her battle with cancer, Cathy has touched the lives of many who have been deeply inspired by her.
The last 17 years have been extremely difficult as Tom and Cathy experienced the ups and downs of cancer and its unforgiving nature. Tom became Cathy’s primary caretaker and support system. He continued to teach high school history and coach hockey goalies, and always with a smile on his face. He turned to his faith, even attended the seminary for a year and found peace in his visits to Pacem in Terris where he’d rejuvenate through the tradition of Franciscan silence and solitude.
Fast forward to early January 2017 when Tom and Cathy received the most devastating news of all, a diagnosis of advanced cancer, now Stage 4 liver cancer.
As you can imagine, Tom and Cathy are faced with costs beyond their means. Tom is always on a mission to help others, whether it’s his undivided love for his wife, his passion to educate others about the challenges facing Israel, or simply his keen desire to share his incredible knowledge of history with his students or his expertise in hockey goaltending. It is our hope that we can now help Tom and raise the necessary funds to cover the multitude of impending expenses.
On behalf of Tom and Cathy, we extend our gratitude and deepest appreciation for your generosity.
