Help Community Tourism in the Pamir
Dear friends,
We are a group of local guides from the Pamirs and we have been working to develop community-based tourism in the region since 2010. We founded Pamir Horse Adventure back in 2010 to help local communities to build tourism infrastructure and offer services to adventure travellers in the Pamirs Mountains. You can find information about us on our profiles on http://www.pamirhorseadventure.com/about-us/
For our sustainable tourism development initiative, we received the prestigious Mountain Award Protection Award in 2014 http://mountainprotection.theuiaa.org/awards/2014
We have been able to promote tourism in the region and to train local guides thanks to small donations that we receive from other organisations and individuals. This year we are in a dire need to rebuild one of the bridges on the famous Zaroshkul - Yashilkul circuit which allows trekkers and horse riders to cross from Ghund valley to Murghab and Bartang valley. This is one of the best trekking destinations in Tajikistan. Find more about the route here http://www.trekkinginthepamirs.com/p/trekking-info.html
The local community decided to rebuild the bridge over the Ghund river in the now abandoned Andaravj village and will need financial support to buy the building materials. We are mainly asking our friends who travelled to the region and have enjoyed their stay, who want to help the local population to benefit from tourism. Many of our friends who are travel organisers in Europe and Tajikistan have pledged to help us to build the bridge in Andaravj and repair the other bridges. The work has already begun.
Building this bridge is also necessary for the local shepherds who always commute through this route during the summer. Thanks for supporting our initiative. You are invited to visit the Pamirs!
