How did CEFA get started?
The Community Empowerment Fund of Athens (CEFA)
was created in the Fall 2014 by Ms. Ricky Roberts aka Ricky Simone: The Hip Hop Activist
It all began when the Holiday Assistance Program (HAP) that she created began to receive requests for financial assistance from those in need.
Since those requests were beyond the scope of HAP, Ricky wanted to create a no-hassle financial assistance program where low wage workers could apply for grants throughout the entire year.
These workers need our support because they do not earn a living wage even though they go to work everyday. They are among the growing numbers of the working poor.
Using the CEFA application, low wage workers who live and work in Athens, GA can apply for a grant up to $250
CEFA Application: bit.ly/cefaapp2016.
CEFA grants have been distributed since 2015. CEFA is totally dependent on donations from community members.
We have a real opportunity to join together and help our coworkers and neighbors.
Please make a donation if you are able.
Other ways to donate:
Offline donations can be mailed to
Ricky Roberts PO BOX 843 Athens, GA 30603
Offline donations will be added to the page with your name included unless otherwised notified.
Fiscal sponsor:
EJC is a registered non-profit and currently serves as the fiscal sponsor for CEFA.
Please make checks payable to "Economic Justice Coalition" and in the memo line write CEFA.
Having a fiscal sponsor means that ALL CEFA donations are tax deductible.
ALL donations, after gofundme fees, are for CEFA only!
