Celebrating Joyce Heath's Life

On January 21st, my mother-in-law began a journey leading her to a diagnosis of a rare form of appendix cancer. In that journey she faced an emergency surgery which removed most of her bowels, dependence on IV feedings and weeks of suffering. On February 20th, when faced with the slim chance of chemotherapy as an effective treatment option, Joyce calmly and courageously chose to enter into hospice care and spend the rest of the time given her by God surrounded by her family and in comfort.  Joyce was freed from her suffering and entered into eternal life this morning, March 8th. Joyce has left behind a legacy of love, joy, meekness, gentleness and humility that touched the lives of everyone with whom she came into contact. Her family now seeks to honor and celebrate her life by providing funeral services that will allow those she loved and who loved her to come together to grieve and rejoice. Within the next 4 weeks, Joyce's daughter and my wife, Jessica Mitchell, will be collecting those funds necessary to honor Joyce's life as she deserved.
