Nicholas has been battling with mental illness for half of his 24 year life. The resources for mental illness in Quebec are seriously lacking and keep failing him time and time again.
At the beginning of February Nicholas attempted to take his own life and was admitted into a local hospital. After less than 24 hours was released and sent on his way with a "good luck", despite the numerous attempts he had previously made seeking out help.
During the two week period following and several calls to the suicide hotline, Nicholas sank into a severe depression and again attempted to take his life. This time the outcome was more serious. Nicholas was in a coma and spent 11 days in the Intensive Care Unit and 3 days in the psychiatric ward.
He is now being treated in a 28 day inpatient program for addiction, all the while NOT being treated or tackling the root of his mental illness and will be released at the end of March. In a suicide note he wrote "I can’t take the pain anymore". We believe this should be enough to know that this human being has reached his limit and is desperate for help.
Nicholas was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder at the age of 19. The treatment for this illness is through extensive therapy which includes but is not limited to, Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Therapy in the language that he is most comfortable expressing himself with, therapy in the language of English, that is sadly not offered to him here in Quebec as an inpatient.
Nicholas recently applied to the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, Ontario. This facility provides extensive mental health care that Nicholas so desperately needs and is seeking.

At the time we launch this site , Nicholas was advised that the Quebec government NO LONGER funds out of province care but yet have no other treatment optionsin English to offer him. As of March 14th, 2018 Nicholas has been provided an alternative opportunity and is in the process to apply for in patient treatment (in french) in Quebec.
This is now a great relief, and him and his family are gaining hope with this new opportunity.
This is where the contribution will matter!
Our target objective still aims to provide Nicholas the funds he needs to be admitted into Homewood Health Centre and provide him with a real chance to improve his condition and find a reason to enjoy life again. We want to get Nicholas the best help he needs by the end of March.
Nicholas needs our help now, together we can help him!
1$, 20$, 100$ or 1,0000$ it all counts! Please donate now.
