Hi, I’m Joey, a Jack Russell. My story begins when “Compassion Kind” rescued me from “Animal Control,” in May of 2018, and my new Mommy Stella adopted me. She took me to University of Florida for a full check up. They said I was around 13 years old, and had a serious heart disease. The doctor gave mommy heart medicine to help my heart. The only surgeon in the world who could do the surgery to fix my heart lived in Japan, and it cost about $45,000. My mommy did not have the money, so she started a charity to help me and other dogs go to Japan, and get the surgery. The charity is 2dogsonamission.org Buster, (my roommate) and I are the 2 dogs on a mission. We want to help as many dogs as we can and we need your help! We want to raise lots of money so we can help other dogs that need heart surgery. Great news! UF did get a doctor from Japan to perform heart surgery for dogs at UF. SAD NEWS! During one of my visits to UF, the doctor ran tests and saw something bad. I had cancer. They operated on me, and took ALL the cancer out. Mommy was so happy!

Stella:

Joey’s heart was doing great with his medication, but during another visit to UF his cancer came back. UF said they couldn’t do anything else to help my Joey! I was devastated, so, I took him to Blue Pearl for another opinion. The oncologist started Joey on chemo, but it was too late. Although Joey was acting normal, on April 26th, I woke up at 6:00 am to make his breakfast, went to his bed and he was having a seizure which he never had before. I rushed him to Blue Pearl and after working on Joey, the doctor told me my Joey was dying. I made the most selfless, difficult decision of my life. Joey was put to rest in my arms. Inconclusion,“2dogsonamission has 3 goals, to sponsor more cancer research, to help with mitral valve surgery, and to purchase vests for our loyal canines who help protect us daily. Thank you!
