My 50th "The Picnic" to benefit Abingdon Cycling
If there is one life-changing event in my life it would be living in The Teton's the summer after graduating high school. That summer solidified my love for the outdoors and offered many new experiences including climbing The Grand Teton.
As many of you know my twin brother Alex (who will also turns 50, on July 25th) lives in the Tetons. He recently introduced me to a endurance challenge called "The Picnic". "The Picnic" also known as The Grand Teton Triathlon starts in Jackson Town Square and involves biking 23 miles to Jenny Lake, swimming 1.3 miles across the lake, climbing The Grand Teton (13,775 ft) and then doing the reverse back to town. The goal when this challenge was created was to do it in under 24 hours. We hope to reach that goal with the support of friends and family along the route and avoid weather, injury and the many other obstacles that could stand in our way.
I would like to get more than just a good workout out of this experience and have decided to raise money for a project that means a lot to me and my community. Since I know you are struggling with what to get me for my 50th birthday, I will make it easy. Simply click and donate to help introduce others to the outdoors.
When I moved to Southwest VA 3.5 years ago, I got involved with a group to help establish a mountain bike park. The first phase, which includes a pump track and skills area is now under construction and we are working on the next phase to establish 20+ miles of trail. Any donation to Abingdon Cycling, Inc will help make an impact and help make this next phase reality.
Thanks so much for your support
