Fund the Community Controlled Basketball Court!
It’s not just building a basketball court; it’s rebuilding our community.
Be part of building an outdoor court on this corner lot at College Ave. and W. Florissant on the north side of St. Louis. We are determined to change the conditions faced by our community, in a neighborhood that is 95% Black, the majority of whom live below the poverty line. African people in the St. Louis area are 3.23 times more likely than whites to live in poverty, the eighth-highest disparity out of 48 metro areas. The Black Power Blueprint has already purchased the land and demolished a city-owned abandoned and condemned building there.
We need your support to raise the $60,000 needed to build and surface a court with lighting, fencing, benches and bleachers, so that our community can have spirited youth ball programs, pickup games, leagues, tournaments and more . This is another Black community-led project of the nonprofit African People's Education and Defense Fund that improves the well-being of our community and helps close the huge disparities we face in overall health and life expectancy, including diabetes, obesity and hypertension rates.
The Black Power Blueprint is transforming our community not just with land, buildings and a court, but with a sense of pride and a vision for a prosperous future once again.
