“To the world, you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world” - Dr. Seuss
This sentiment is just a snippet of who we are as an Animal Rescue Organization.
Our small non-profit is dedicated to helping animals in need. It pains us to know that we cannot save them all, but for those that we do help, their lives are forever changed for the better!
Almost Home Animal Rescue began in 2007 (501c3 EIN 26-0597616). A small group of volunteers had an idea and a dream of being a hero to any needy dog, cat and critter that crossed our path. Over the years, we’ve become a safe haven for countless animals who found themselves on death row in local and out-of-state rural shelters, street dogs from Puerto Rico, and street dogs rescued from the illegal dog meat trade in Thailand. We’ve also opened our hearts and “Almost Home” to local family surrenders.
We have saved animals from abuse and neglect through our nationally recognized community outreach program “Training Wheels©️”, and through this program, we have also helped many families in poverty to keep their beloved pets by offering free food, supplies, and medical services for their pets. Our dedicated volunteers have been staunch advocates for changing local animal welfare laws. In addition, we have participated in disaster relief efforts, and have brought our community outreach to other parts of the country where severe storms have devastated areas such as Texas, Puerto Rico and North Carolina.
We have made a tremendous positive difference in the lives of many animals in need, near and far. But it hasn’t come without a cost. Often there are times when we are faced with the difficult decision of whether we can or cannot help an animal in an emergency. We step up for these animals when most other rescues decline due to the financial burden it carries. We rely on donations from generous people like you, to help us continue our mission of helping animals in need.
These past few years, the pandemic and economy have affected us in a way that we’ve never experienced before…. We are in danger of shutting our doors due to a lack of funding. We understand the struggles that everybody has been going through during these difficult times, which makes it hard for us to ask for the help that we so desperately need. We would graciously appreciate any donation that you can make to help us continue our selfless work. Our monthly expenses total about $20,000 every single month! With your help of even just a $20 donation, YOU will mean the world to one animal in need! And together, we will make a life-changing difference!
On behalf of all the animals in our care and our dedicated volunteers… Thank you!!!
