2nd Annual 100-Mile ALS Ride for Life Series
In March of 2021, Tony Hendra passed away from ALS after a three-year battle with the disease. Later that year, twenty friends and colleagues banded together for a bike ride from the hanging gardens of Babylon, Long Island to Montauk, NY, and they raised $50,000+ in one month for The ALS Association of New York City. Shortly thereafter, the group learned about a 25 year-old non-profit organization headquartered in Long Island with an incredible backstory: ALS Ride for Life.

Established in 1997 by Chris Pendergast and his wife Christine, the ALSRFL organization has raised millions of dollars and donated those funds directly to ALS patient services and research. In March of 2022, one of the riders decided to join the Board of Directors to help continue the inspiring work of Chris, Christine, and the entire ALSRFL team.

The fundraising goal for 2023 is $100,000.

This is our school's 14th year doing the Ride for Life ALS walk. This is our 1st year as we are in 6th grade. We can't wait to meet ALS patients Paul, Desi and the Ride for Life volunteers. Thank you for supporting our efforts to raise money for a cure for ALS. This is our school's 10th year participating in the ALS-Ride for Life walk. As 6th graders, it is our first time doing the walk and we are so excited to meet Mr. Pendergast and do Ride for Life. Our school will be walking from Yankee Stadium to Washington Heights on Friday, May 17th. We would love for you to join us if you're free. Our goal is $10,000. 250 students will be walking and raising $20 each, we are trying to get sponsors to match our amount to help us get to our goal. Thanks for your help.

Students Raising Money for ALS
Chris Pendergast and the Ride for Life have been an important part of our lives since the 6th grade. Participating on the Ride for Life has taught us to be the best students we can be, to care about others and to never give up hope. Next year, we are both attending 4 year colleges (the first in our families), and although we won't be physically at CHAH, we'll always be a part of this important cause. Please help the students of CHAH raise $10,000. We have pledged to raise $5,000 off-line ourselves and are trying to have friends and family match our efforts to find a cure for ALS. We will announce our off-line donations on weekly posts. Thank you for your support.

As a patient driven, volunteer organization, its mission is to: Raise research funds to find a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Support patients and their families through patient services Raise public awareness Provide the community with the latest ALS news, information, and inspiration During ALS Awareness Month in May, the charity conducts the annual Rife For Life, a major patient advocacy event. Over many days, patients in electric wheelchairs or scooters, journey a lengthy route spreading awareness, information and raising funds.
