Triathlon for Refugee Support
I visited Jordan & AFFRME in May and almost didn't come back.
I got to meet the refugee families who from one border to the next can't work, go to school, or even eat at times... They live in limbo for 2 weeks - 8 years waiting on a visa elsewhere.
I got to meet the Jordanians giving all of their energy to support the continual influx of families.
I got to bring jerseys and play soccer with the team they started.
I got to be embraced by this beautiful country & both Jordanian and Iraqi culture.
AFFRME supports both physical and community needs with sustainable projects run by locals including gardening to feed themselves, carpentry to build beds for incoming refugees, language & other lessons for education, art & music therapy, and more.
I can't do much, but I can share their stories & we, as a team, can do a lot. As I swim/bike/run my way through my first triathlon, I will be thinking of them, and hopefully you too if you choose to support!
