Thank you for visiting this page. My name is Aiden Mohideen. I am a student at Thomas Jefferson High School, Jefferson Hills (a suburb of Pittsburgh), PA. The devastating impact that COVID-19 has had on India has prompted me to attempt to raise money to help those afflicted by this pandemic. All donations will go directly towards COVID-19 relief efforts in India through the American India Foundation (AIF). AIF is committed to catalyzing social and economic change in India and building a lasting bridge between the United States and India through high-impact interventions in education, livelihoods, public health, and leadership development. With the current COVID-19 situation in India, the AIF has directed all donations to this issue. All contributions will go directly to vaccinate the most vulnerable and marginalized Indians. Escalation of India's Covid-19 crisis has been heart-breaking. Daily reported infections are at 300,000+. The Indian healthcare system is overwhelmed and collapsing. Almost all of us with loved ones in India have lost a family member or friend.

We're calling on you, our work family, to act in this time of need. The need of the hour is funding, hospital beds, & oxygen, as many hospitals are left with <5hrs of supply for patients they can save otherwise.

A heart-wrenching tragedy is being played out in India, and the Indian health care system is in a full blown crisis and on the verge of a complete breakdown. Hundreds of thousands of new patients are being diagnosed with COVID-19 everyday, and several thousands are losing their lives to this disease every single day. While the US government has vouched to share vaccines with India, they will not arrive in India for some time. Almost all of us with loved ones in India have lost one or more members of our family and friends.

We are all volunteers. 100% of the donations (minus transaction fees) will go to AIF to provide medical help and survival kits to over 25,500 vulnerable families in India. 

It’s been heartbreaking to see countless daily wage workers and their families jobless and hungry amidst the national lockdown in India due to COVID-19 (Times of India )! A small group of us Indians living abroad have come together in solidarity to urgently raise $1M to meet the immediate and urgent needs of the medical community and families of migrant workers. 

This is a race against time, and we hope that you will donate whatever you can afford. Every penny counts!

After evaluating several options, we have selected the very credible, transparent and mission-driven American India Foundation (AIF)  as our partner non-profit of choice. They already have a vast infrastructure in place including 300+ staff members in India and they will provide us with a transparent impact report a few weeks after the fund deployment. AIF is a top-rated 501(c)(3) non-profit with corporate partners such as Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Dell and IBM and board members such as Mastercard’s President & CEO Ajay Banga.  

AIF has already been active on the field (press coverage by India Today  and The Economic Times ) and our fund will help them further reach hundreds of thousands of Indians in dire need of help. Donations are 100% tax deductible under Section 501(c)(3) US Internal Revenue Code.  

Below is a breakdown of how AIF plans to deploy the $1M fund and here is a detailed budget .

1. Providing COVID-19 Prevention Kits and Rations for the Vulnerable Population - migrant workers, vulnerable families and elderly (living alone), female headed households are in urgent need of basic essentials. The kits consist of basic staples for survival for a month, as well as preventive kits including soap, gloves, 3-ply masks, etc.

NEED: $450,000 to serve 15,000 families. (45%)

2. Providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and Health Kits for the Frontline Health Personnel- Doctors and healthcare workers (nurses, technicians, etc) in the hospitals treating COVID positive patients are exposed to heavy viral loads and are therefore extremely susceptible to acquiring infection, often with fatal consequences. 61 doctors have already died in Italy.

AIF is equipping grass-root level Corona warriors by providing life saving PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) kits to frontline health workers (ASHAs, AWWs, ANMs). They will also receive thermal scanners to screen and identify initial cases. AIF is also leveraging the vast network in the community to spread awareness, identify, refer, and track potential cases.

NEED: $250,000 to protect ~10,000 frontline workers. (25%)


3. Providing Life-Saving Medical Equipment to Government-Run Hospitals- One of the most common life-threatening complications leading to death due to COVID-19 infections is Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Ventilators and multipara monitors are the cornerstone for managing these critically ill patients with ARDS, thus averting a large percentage of fatalities. AIF is proposing to equip Covid-19 centres in government-run hospitals with these lifesaving equipment, thus contributing to saving lives.

NEED: $300,000 to provide life saving support to at least 500 patients but probably many many more as this is multi-use equipment. (30%)
