Help Beth Break Freedive Record for Bermuda Kids!
I am Beth Neale, 3x South African freedive Champion and African continental record holder.
(Freediving is the practice of going underwater without a tank, just going underwater on one breath!)
Ten years ago I discovered freediving when I was not happy living in London, UK. Since then, everything has changed. I have travelled the world and shared my passion and love for the ocean through film and freediving.
For the last 5 years, I have been a part of the Kids on the Reef programme in beautiful Bermuda, run by the Bermuda Zoological Society, where we teach 250 school children per year freediving and ocean conservation over 2 days - snorkelling and taking them as far out as 8 miles offshore to experience the pristine coral reefs!
Through this we are undoubtedly creating the next generation of ocean conservation warriors! We have taught over 1500 children freediving and ocean conservation over 7 years.
Inspired by my work with Kids on the Reef, I will be attempting to break the South African no fins freediving record of 47meters or 154ft in Bermuda this summer so that more young Bermudians have the incredible opportunity to experience programmes connecting them to their oceans. Last year, the BZS provided 8600 conservation education experiences to children for free.
But I need your support!
The Spring KOTR programme is generously sponsored by our amazing corporate donor, AXA XL. In the Fall, we are sponsored by Hiscox, the Neil Burnie Foundation and the Bermuda Lionfish Taskforce, but we need to raise funds to give more children the opportunity to experience and appreciate the island through the BZS Education Programmes.
By donating $120, you will be ensuring that one child can experience a two day programme both in the classroom and immersed in our beautiful ocean environment. And $2000 will ensure that an entire class can have that same opportunity! But any donation, big or small, will go towards giving a child a transformative experience!
Help me to make this record breaking dive possible this Summer! Donate and share!
